While the rains bring with them a burst of joy, the monsoon season also requires a change in our diet. A lot of health concerns arise and hence we need to alter our eating habits accordingly.
Here’s a list of do’s and don’ts for this season.
- Instead of opting for alcoholic drinks to keep you warm, give Tea a chance. Choose ginger or herbal Tea to stay away from influenza.

- Include Fruits and Green Leafy Vegetables in your diet as they help in restoring energy. Opt for fruits like apples, mangoes, and pears and avoid having juicy fruits like watermelons and muskmelons.
- Increase the intake of Barley, Oats and Brown Rice in your diet during the monsoons as they are your stomach’s best friend and help in digestion.
- During monsoons, avoid having milk without boiling. Instead have variants like curd. Also, make sure you drink purified water.
- Avoid consuming spicy and oily food during this season as the human body’s digestive system is weak and too many spices can upset the stomach.
- Seafood should be strictly avoided during monsoons.
- Reduce your intake of dairy products since they possess the maximum chances of being germ and bacteria infested.
- Avoid eating junk food, and specially street food from unhygienic roadside vendors.
